Posts and tutorials dealing with high-performance computing clusters, such as the Digital Research Alliance of Canada or the Canadian Federal Government supercomputers.
If you’re just getting started, basics for each system are covered in “Notes” for each system: Alliance Canada (formerly known as Compute Canada); GPSC (i.e., the Government of Canada General Purpose Scientific Computing cluster). I also mention some useful tools and approaches in an older article on making your own mini-cluster on DigitalOcean
A number of these articles describe how I use Emacs to manage my interactions with these systems. Emacs is a very powerful tool for writing and documenting scripts, and managing the process of submitting them to the cluster. However, the learning curve can be daunting. If you’re just going to be doing one or two small projects on a cluster, it is probably not worth the investiment to learn. On the other hand, if you will be doing this regularly, or you just like tinkering with computer stuff, it can be very rewarding. You can find my Emacs articles here.
